Life at a United World College in India

Who

My name is Thule van den Dam. I moved from a tiny village called Leuvenheim in the Netherlands to an island of the west coast of Canada when I was 8. I can speak Dutch, English and French and have dual-nationality. I would never be able to choose between the Netherlands and Canada.

This is my blog about all the adventures I'm going to have at UWC Mahindra College. It won't always be poetry or easy to read because I'm not going to edit. And I hope to tune into some frequency that you can understand and translate the wonders of a United World College and hopefully encourage you to apply.

My email is thulevandendam@gmail.com if you have any questions whatsoever considering my time there or the application process :) I'm here to help.

I am 5''5', have scraggly, wavy brown hair and undecided eyes and awkward knees and gap-teeth and rosy cheeks and a big smile and an open heart.

I love music. Playing it, dancing to it, listening to it.
I play violin, guitar, ukulele and I sing.

I love my coast. With it's wooden houses and big hills and bigger mountains and fields and farms and small cities and folk culture and fog in the morning.

I also love art. And nature. I really love nature.

I like warm patterns and flowers and skirts and comfort and swing dancing and people who smile and homey sounds and hugs and the kind of cold that means wearing a woolen sweater and knitted scarf makes you warm and cozy. I like red noses because its chilly and I like rain when its warm outside. I love the ocean and I will miss it a lot. I know I will end up near the ocean in my future.

I believe in challenge.

I have no idea what I want to do when I graduate besides experience the world and live in a moderately cold place and maybe study the liberal arts and visual arts and climb trees and drink tea and have campfires.

And create something.

And I like YOU for reading this :)
